pic13Chinedu Ikedieze burst on to the scene in truly dramatic fashion in the 2002 movie Aki na Ukwa. And in less than a decade he has gone on to become one of the most famous actors in Nollywood. Best known for acting alongside his sidekick Osita Iheme, the duo have solidified the name Aki & PawPaw in the Nigerian movie industry.

Chinedu has starred in nothing less than 100 movies. Some of which are Aki na Ukwa, World Apart, Jardons, Spanner, Secret Adventure, The Heroes, Soldier Ants, Fifth, The Johnsons, (an Mnet production), Hammer n lots more. Growing up, Chinedu dreamt of being a doctor or lawyer but all that changed when he caught the acting bug as a teenager after he joined his secondary school’s Dramatic Society.

On completion of his secondary school education, Chinedu enrolled at the Institute of Management & Technology in Enugu State to study Mass Communications. Led by his passion for acting he joined the Institute’s theatre group, as an active member of the group he took part in several large-scale productions, ceasing the opportunity to make industry contacts and hone his craft.

Armed with an HND in mass communications, Chinedu began auditioning for movie roles. His first big screen feature was in the 1998 movie “Evil Men” in which he had a minor role. He impressed producers with his talent and tenacity and went on to feature in many more movies. However his big break did not come until the 2002 movie Aki na Ukwa, playing the role of Aki opposite Osita Iheme, this was the movie that got him noticed by Nollywood fans and critics alike.

Early in his career Chinedu was often typecast in the role of a child, but he has since then displayed his versatility as an actor taking on more mature and dramatic roles after he took a time out and enrolled in the prestigious New York Film Academy (NYFA) in 2004. This bold move has garnered him a number of awards including the FAN Award (Filmmakers Association of Nigeria) USA, and most notably the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2007 Africa Movie Awards.

Going by the moniker Aki, the funny man has become one of Nollywood’s most recognizable faces and a name to reckon with in Nollywood Industry.

Leveraging on the popularity and the critical success of his movies, in 2010 he received one of the highest honours a Nigerian Citizen can be given, he was conferred an MFR (Member Order of the Federal Republic) by the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebere Jonathan.

His hobbies are reading, watching football, swimming, travelling and exchanging ideas.

He is recently working on a very big project- My Father’s Home.

He is married to a fashionista, Nneoma Ikedieze (owner, Nikiz Fashions).
